In my practice, I am focused on helping adolescents, young adults and adults who struggle with substance use, mental health issues, dual diagnosis disorders, as well as relationship issues, family dynamics, self-esteem/self-worth/self-confidence building and transitional life changes.
My focus is to help individuals, couples, and families identify the challenges they are facing with courage, gain effective coping skills to address those issues, and heal through celebrating their fortitude and inner strength.
I promise to be there for you every step of your journey. My goal is to help you grow from your struggles, heal from your pain, and move forward to build the life you deserve to live with dignity and joy. And I hope to do all of that with care, thoughtfulness, and even some humor.
It may sound cliche, but I truly feel so lucky to have the career I have! I knew what I wanted to do my first year of undergrad and pursued my passion of specializing in addiction and dual diagnosis. Now 26 years later, I still have that same passion and dedication to the field of counseling and feel very honored to work with each and every patient that chooses me. I believe in being direct, honest, and sincere but also feel humor has a great place in therapy and I want my patients to be able to reciprocate these qualities in session to build openness and connection.
I'll just go ahead and address the potential elephant in the room and call out my hairstyle. Maybe it's because my mother was a stylist, so I was able to experiment with all kinds of eclectic looks throughout my life, or maybe because I am a child of the 80's and love punk, or because I was lovingly supported by my parents to be authentic to myself no matter what anyone else thought. Whatever the reason, I've been referred to as "that therapist with the hair" my entire career regardless of the style and I lean into that phrase with pride. LOL
